The information below is for spring and summer 2017 planned graduates only.

TRAD Students: Traditional undergraduate students planning to be considered for May commencement must have all academic requirements met prior to the beginning of fall semester 2017.

FOCUS/GRAD Students: College of Adult & Graduate Studies FOCUS and GRAD students planning to be considered for May commencement must have all academic requirements met by the last day of spring semester 2017. FOCUS/GRAD summer 2017 graduates participate in the fall commencement.

The spring 2017 commencement ceremony takes place on Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Guests who cannot attend the event can watch the ceremonies live. See the below details concerning which academic areas will be in which ceremony. 

If you wish to view the ceremonies at another time, a recording of the spring 2017 commencement ceremonies should be posted online by June. 

Schedule of Events for Commencement:

10–11:30 a.m. *Commencement ceremony in Knight Hall
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Commencement reception: outdoors in front of the Billy Graham Community life Commons
1:15 p.m. Participating graduates for afternoon ceremony assemble in regalia in Nazareth Hall, 2nd floor
2–3:30 p.m. *Commencement ceremony in Knight Hall
3:30–4:30 p.m. Commencement reception: outdoors in front of the Billy Graham Community life Commons

*Each ceremony includes designated colleges and academic departments and schools. All majors within designated colleges/departments/schools will march with their respective college/department/school with exceptions noted below.

Caps and Gowns

Beginning in February, planned graduates order caps and gowns online. Caps and gowns (regalia) must be ordered by no later than March 22. Regalia will be distributed in the Nazareth Great Room at Grad Expo on Tuesday, May 2. Regalia must be returned to room G205 in the Billy Graham Community Life Commons following the commencement ceremony. Graduates may keep their cap and tassel. 

Graduation Announcement Ordering

Beginning in March, planned graduates who desire to order graduation announcements may do so online. If ordering, please allow 3 weeks for processing and shipping. 

Commencement Tickets

Tickets are required for guests of participating graduates. The number of tickets provided is based on the total number of graduates planning to participate in commencement. Tickets will be distributed to participating graduates at Grad Expo on Tuesday, May 2. Each participating graduate will receive 6 (six) tickets. Overflow viewing on monitors will be available in the Totino Fine Arts Center lobby (no tickets required for overflow viewing).

Guests with Special Needs?

For guests who will be attending commencement who have accommodation needs (e.g., wheelchair/ADA, hearing impaired or interpreter/translation requests, etc.), please complete and submit a request form by no later than Thursday, April 27.

Professional Photographers

Each graduate will be photographed as diploma covers are presented and at a posed location at the side of the stage. After graduation, graduates will be given the opportunity to purchase pictures directly from Lifetouch for both the morning and afternoon ceremonies. 

Diplomas

TRAD Students: Diplomas will be mailed beginning in late June.

FOCUS/GRAD Students: Diplomas will be mailed within 4 6 weeks upon degree completion.

Diplomas are sent after students have

  • fulfilled all degree requirements
  • paid his/her student account in full including the graduation fee charged to the graduate's account the last term the graduate registers (undergraduate: $50; graduate: $75)

(Note: Diploma lists degree only. Transcript lists degree, major[s], and any minor[s].)

Grad Expo

Grad Expo will take place in the Nazareth Great Room on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, 10:45 a.m. 6 p.m. Grad Expo is an event that provides a "one-stop" opportunity for planned graduates to clear from campus. Students planning to graduate will receive an invitation prior to the event.
